My partner and I went to America last month and visited New York City and Chicago. When I'm holidaying I'm kind of the world's worst travel phototographer. I don't do the close ups of locals smiling, or photos of fresh produce or whatever. Instead I find myself fascinated with shape, colour and contradictions (cheesy I know). Narratives, I guess. I tend to just shoot images I find beautiful. Sometimes I wish I could stop, but I find myself hungry to create a beautiful photograph.. As soon as we get back to the hotel etc I'm on the computer looking at pictures. I guess it's in the blood now.
Here's a little selection I shot, in rough chronological order. They're mostly in Manhattan, Chicago and Brooklyn. I think. The one with the big black car with the gold tassled American flag is Barack Obamas car. Serious.
All are available as gorgeous fine art prints to hang on your wall, if you'd like.
